Come join the Heroku team in San Francisco and be a part of this. We are looking for a Java Evangelist with a polyglot bent, covering Java, Ruby, HTML5/Javascript and more. The Developer Evangelist engages with the technical community online and in person, generates content and what’s possible with the Heroku platform.

We are looking for someone that has a love of presenting and participating in technical communities. You should have a strong blogging history and engaged twitter following.

Responsibilities include

  • Organizing local Heroku User Groups
  • Presenting and participating in third party events and meetups
  • Writing prototypes, code samples and technical articles
  • Working directly with engineering to influence product strategy and gather real-world feedback

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on development experience in Java
  • 3-5+ years work experience as a developer or evangelist
  • Excited about exploring new technologies and sharing
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about exploring and experimenting with the latest developer technologies and standards, and experience building thriving developer communities
  • Excellent presentation, demonstration, and inter-personal communication skills; experienced speaker at industry events
  • Methodical and organized; able to manage multiple opportunities, projects and priorities concurrently
  • Track and contribute to the developer technology blogosphere and other online forums, mailing lists, and newsgroups
  • Desired: experience with Hibernate, Spring
  • Interested in new frameworks and technologies like Play, new JVM-based languages such as Scala, Clojure
  • Additional experience in Python, .NET, PHP, Javascript/CSS, HTML5 desirable.
  • Interest in high scale web architectures, mobile and social application development, streaming APIs
  • BA/BS in Computer Science or related
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 30%
